Personalize Your Bath and Body Products

by Cynthia Kasper

Call me silly but I like to match.  What I mean is, I do not like my shampoo and conditioner to have one smell, my body lotion to have another smell and my cologne to have yet another.  I do not like to wear clashing scents.  So what do I do?  I create my own personalized bath and body products.  Here’s how I do it….

When I purchase bath and body care products I look for an unscented brand that is without toxic chemicals.  Most natural food stores will have them.  I also use the unscented Bath & Shower Gel from Young Living.  Before I shower, I choose my favorite essential oil for that day.  While in the shower, I will add a drop or two of the essential oil to my dollop of shampoo, mix it with my finger, and shampoo as usual.  I do the same for the conditioner, shower gel and after bath moisturizing oil.  When finished, I will rub a few drops of the essential oil on my pulse points.  So not only do I smell good, I also receive the therapeutic value of the essential oil.  I drop the essential oil bottle into my purse to freshen up during the day and call it done.

There are advantages to personalizing your own bath and beauty products:

  • It is extremely cost effective.  You only need to purchase one bottle of unscented product instead of countless bottles, each with a different scent.
  • You can change scents daily with minimal effort.
  • You can be sure that your product contains therapeutic grade essential oils.
  • You can choose your scent according to the needs of the day–Grounding, Motivation, Common Sense, Valor.
  • They travel easily.

So instead of spending hundreds of dollars on designer fragrances only to have them clash with your shampoo and hair conditioner, you just might want to give this a try.

I love this. I like my scents to match. Great idea! I noticed the other day that the Lavender spritz I used, did in fact blend in nicely with the perfume–I will never be able to give up.

Trying this tomorrow!
